Crews responded to the two-alarm fire at a six-unit condo building at 56 Sachem Street in Lynn at 11:43 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, according to Lynn Fire Department on Facebook.

Upon arrival, crews originally did not see any smoke or fire coming from the three-story. However once inside, firefighters smelled smoke and heard crackling in the walls, Lynn Fire said.

The fire was determined to be on the third floor of the building and was spreading to the roof, the department continued.

A video from the department showed heavy smoke coming from the building, which is located only a block away from Lynn Beach.

The fire was eventually extinguished after 3 p.m., Lynn Fire said in another Facebook post. A cat was found dead in the building, the department added.

The Red Cross was helping those who were displaced. The fire is under investigation.
